The Physics Study Programme (Prodi) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University held the Capstone Festival 2024 which is a place to present the results of student work and activities in the second Physics Capstone course according to the K2020 IPB University curriculum. Various results of student activities such as research internships at various research centres of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), as well as internal capstone activities are displayed in this activity.

Capstone Physics itself is a course that is the culmination of the implementation of the application of all physics study programme learning outcomes that have been studied previously for approximately three years. 57 per cent of Physics students in the Class of 2020 participated in this activity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Physics Study Program, Prof Tony Sumaryada, emphasised the need for students to be coloured by an exciting academic and scientific atmosphere such as this Capstone Festival event. “Through this activity, it is hoped that students can immediately complete their lectures and graduate on time,” he said.

“This activity is very exciting, adds insight and a lot of valuable input obtained from the assessment lecturers and other fellow students,” said Nina Alexandra, one of the Capstone Festival participants.

Meanwhile, one of the assessment lecturers, Dr Heriyanto Syafutra said, “This festival activity is very good for training students’ communication skills in disseminating ideas and the results of their capstone activities to the public, obviously a deep substantial understanding and high creativity are needed so that people are interested in listening to it,” he said.

Dr Heriyanto continued, this Capstone Festival activity is in accordance with the target learning outcomes of the study programme which requires collaboration, communication, complex problem solving, as well as mastery of the basic substance of the physics study programme.(*/Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
