IPB University’s Institution for Science Technology Park (LKST) selected 23 potential recipients of the Innovation Development Program and 73 candidates for the Startup Incubation Program from the 2023 Foreign Grant Program (PHLN). The selection process was carried out for the first time at the Startup Building, LKST Campus IPB Taman Kencana, 7/3.

Head of LKST, Prof Erika Budiarti Laconi said that in the innovation development selection, 21 lecturer innovations would be selected which would be developed into perspective inventions, innovations that were ready for collaboration and innovations ready to be produced.

“Meanwhile, for the 73 startup applicants, 10 startups will be selected to receive the PHLN program. They will continue to be nurtured for five years. We hope that a big startup will be born under the guidance of IPB University, not only known in the national market but also in the international market,” she said.

According to her, the innovation development selection program and startup incubation program are expected to produce innovative products that are ready for distribution and create startups that are resilient in running their business. The startup follows regulations, follows procedures, follows all product quality, and products are guaranteed to be halal and products are beneficial to society.

“This activity is a series of IPB University’s Science Techno Park (STP) with three other STPs. There were STP of the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, and the Bandung Institute of Technology who have the opportunity to get PHLN through the government for the STP maturity acceleration or maturity program,” she added.

Through PHLN, she added, the target is that there will be more than 100 innovations that are ready to be collaborated with. There are 100 startups that we foster over the next five years.

“We hope that IPB University lecturers will continue to work and develop their knowledge because it has been proven in society with the results of their research. Lecturers will find it easier to speak in class because there is evidence. And in the end, the lecturers are more prosperous with their innovative works,” (dh/Zul) (IAAS/BLA)
