Fema IPB University Inaugurates an Ecological House, a Place for Student Creativity
The Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) IPB University inaugurated the Ecological House at the Dramaga Bogor Campus, (21/3). The purpose of establishing the Ecological House is as a facility for Student Organizations (Ormawa) to develop student creativity.
The Dean of Fema IPB University, Prof Ujang Sumarwan said, IPB University has provided a very good example of the use of processing energy, for example dairy cows, waste management and others.
According to him, Fema was very excited to follow the example of what IPB University had done. One of the backgrounds for the establishment of this Ecological House is to provide a prototype of how people will use this building to minimize the use of electricity for either lighting or air circulation.
"Ormawa are very important academics, therefore they need to be facilitated in a comfortable room so they can be more productive. In the future, other activities will be developed for nutrition consultation, child development, consumer and community empowerment," explained Prof Ujang.
Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University congratulated the inauguration of the Ecological House as a forum for students and academics of Fema IPB University. Before becoming rector, Prof Arif served as Dean of Fema in 2010-2017. During this period, he has established the BNI-Fema Lounge which is located at the Fema Student Information and Activity Service Center (Plasma) IPB University.
"The purpose of the BNI-Fema Lounge is to facilitate a comfortable discussion space and make it easier to get healthy food at the food court arena with fast transactions using tap cash," he explained.
Prof Arif hopes that the Ecological House can be a useful place and can become an informal space, a place that can bring up good ideas from ormawa and the academic community of Fema IPB University.
"Hopefully, this Ecological House can be managed properly and can be an inspiration for other faculties at IPB University," he concluded. (Ns/Rz) (IAAS/YMK)
