IPB Students Receive Jasfren Scholarship Grant
There are 50 students of Bogor Agrcultural University (IPB) 55th generation received Jasa Raharja Friend (Jasfren) Scholarship in the form of Single Tuition Fee (UKT), living allowance and Healthcare Social Security Agency (BPJS) insurance payment for those who have high achievement and are economically less fortunate for one year from PT. Jasa Raharja and IPB Care Alumni Foundation (YAPI), Wednesday (12/12) at IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. The living allowance grant for the transition period of post-tsunami earthquake of Rp 5 million per student was also given to 82 IPB students (D3, S1, S2 dan S3) from Palu, Donggala and surrounding areas.
Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria said for most people, having college education is still a dream due to the high cost that must be spent from the beginning until graduating from college, “However do not be worry, one way to resolve this problem is through scholarships. This scholarship is important, in IPB formerly rich people and poor people pay the same, “that’s not fair”. Now we changed with the equity system. IPB now embraces the title as an equitable public college. Where rich people pay dearly, and poor people pay cheap, to cross subsidize poor people. As many as 53 percent of IPB students come from poor household, while the parents whose economically able to pay according to UKT are only eight percent,” Rector of IPB said.
Rector of IPB emphasized, IPB’s management want to seek the blessing by accepting economically disadvantaged students, so IPB actually be a campus that alleviates poverty. Because the parents who used to have a modest life, after their children went to IPB then graduated to get a decent job so it elevates their family’s standard to become more prosperous.
Rector of IPB also added, IPB’s challenge is making a person who is economically less fortunate to become a person who is more successful than the rich people. “So, you who dream to go to university but has limited fund, do not be discouraged to go to college. Universities both public and private, has provided various scholarships. This is an appreciation for high school students or college students who are high achieved and those who are economically less fortunate to continue their education with limited economic capability,” concluded Rector of IPB.
Director of Finance of PT. Jasa Raharja, Myland conveyed this scholarship’s grant is to create the brilliant nation’s next generations, to create reliable students. Not only from academic term that makes them excel in educational aspect, but also smart to produce the thought of both action or innovation while still prioritizing the aspect of existed local wisdom and together competing to engrave important roles for the nation’s progress. “We hope that the collaboration of IPB, PT, Jasa Raharja and YAPI can continue. We hope this scholarship from Jasfren becomes an entrance for IPB students to continue to excel and to have a more advanced career,” Myland said.
Meanwhile Chief of YAPI, Heri Sunaryadi explained, the program of this Jasfren scholarship is a direct grant from PT. Jasa Raharja which is managed by YAPI to care for the world of education through the Excellent Program of Generasi Gemilang Indonesia. “By receiving this scholarship, hopefully IPB students can maintain their achievement or even can spur it higher,” Heri conveyed.
