One of the Professors at the Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) IPB University, Prof Euis Sunarti, implemented the Dosen Pulang Kampung (Dospulkam) program. In a program initiated by the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) IPB University, he implemented the Social Innovation “Family Friendly Village Model” which specifically facilitates family transactions with their environment.

The program was held in Ciherang Village, Dramaga, Bogor, West Java as one of the villages surrounding the IPB campus. One of the activities carried out is a family resilience education series for mothers. The first topic presented by Prof Euis Sunarti raised the care of children under two years (baduta) to prevent stunting.

The second topic was presented by Drs Mustopha, MAg regarding the components and scope of family resilience. The next topic was regarding ‘Development Stages and Family Vulnerabilities, presented by Risda Rizkillah, MSi. All resource persons are lecturers in Family and Consumer Sciences at Fema IPB University.

“The participants were very enthusiastic about taking part in the activity. They feel happy to be able to gain knowledge and simple tips on parenting, recognize indicators of family resilience, and also recognize family vulnerabilities. Mothers just know the stages of family development and family tasks including basic tasks, development and crisis tasks,” said Prof Euis.

During the question session, she continued, various problems faced by the family were revealed. One example is a young mother who is at the second stage of development, namely having her first child at an infant age. This young mother felt alone and did not get support from her family. She felt embarrassed about asking her husband and parents for help, which made her sad for a long time.

Another example that Prof Euis found during the activity was the problems faced by newly married young mothers related to adjusting to various unexpected situations. (IAAS/HSB)
