At present there is a change in the source of new sovereignty, namely data. Data becomes something important. People used to say who controls oil will rule the world, but now whoever controls big data will rule the world. This is because there is a shift in data sovereignty.

"As we see with the big data, it can be seen in terms of volume (data is getting bigger) and from various sources. There is a flow of data every time from year, month, day, hour, minute, second all captured in real time. Data flow is divided into various types such as numeric, audio data, video data which are all recorded in the internet of things. This will have an impact on how we will formulate many things related to new science, new regulations and so on, "explained the Rector of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria while speaking at the Executive Development Program (EDP) held by the Employment Health Insurance Agency (BPJS) at the Learning Center Institute, Bogor (1/11).

At the event which is held routinely every year, the Rector of IPB inspires leadership in the digital era. According to him, future leadership is empowering and inspiring.

"There is a saying that reads, good teachers explain, great teachers who inspire," Dr. Arif Satria.

In his presentation, Dr. Arif said that now it had entered the fourth wave of the era of smart society. Indonesia is faced with the problem of being in the same era, namely agriculture, industry, information, smart society. In this smart society era, there is a change where keeping trust and reputation becomes a demand because each of our transactions requires a rating from our clients and consumers. So big data will condition everyone in a trust condition. There are also new skills changes, ranging from complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, coordinating with others, emotional intelligence, system skills, service orientation, negotiation, and cognitive abilities.

"These are all skills that we must master and will be an inspiration for IPB to formulate a curriculum that can produce graduates with skills like this. One of them is this year, IPB has opened a new student admission path through the Student Council Chair. As many as 1,288 Student Council Heads have registered on this path, "he added.

He further said, "We need to pay attention that it turns out that the skills needed in the future are not only hard skills but rather soft skills. If you look at Stanley's research results, the character becomes the most important.

The results of research conducted by Thomas Stanley there are 100 success factors in life. If we look again, IQ ranks 21st, goes to favorite school in the 23rd place and passes with the best score in the 30th. What is the top as a factor in someone's success? That is honesty, discipline, good interpersonal skills, support from spouses, working harder than others, loving what is done, good and strong leadership, passion and competitive personality, managing a good life and the ability to sell ideas and products.
