Vishylicious, Processed Fish Friendly to Hopeless Romantic made by IPB Students

Starting from the hobby of eating fish and the rarity of fish products on campus, five students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) made an empowerment program. R.A. Aisyah Fathia Sekarani student from the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), together with four colleagues make empowerment program in Ciseeng, Bogor. The four colleagues are Devi Pratiwi, Wahyu Stya Utami, Siti Aisah and Risda Arofahtiani. She said that Ciseeng is an area that has potential in fisheries.

"Initially because we rarely find a fishery product and we are interested in making this empowerment proposal after attending the seminar Student Creativity Program (PKM). We form teams from the same dormitories and we are looking for regional information that has the potential for fisheries around Bogor, and we found Ciseeng. This team we call Vishylicious. Vishylicious is an empowerment program in the village of Parigi Mekar, Ciseeng, "she said.

This area has a lake of 5 hectares used by residents to cultivate Tilapia. In addition, there are also many youths who are unemployed and do not have a steady job. For that, Fathia and her team come to empower the potential of the fishery and the youth.

"With the potential of existing fisheries, we try to empower the youth. We work with the village government to run the program. We help increase the added value of Tilapia by making it a processed product. The youth and mothers of the village are taking a role in the process, "she said.

The team assesses the empowerment program starting from the beginning of the production process, to the packaging and marketing process. This team will develop four types of processed products from Tilapia that is fish abon, fish chips, nugget and crispy fish.

"Currently we are still focusing on producing nuggets and crispy fish. For marketing, we will be marketed to various consumers and restaurants. We will also help in branding and promote using online stores, "she said

Under the supervision of Mafrikhul Muttaqin, M.Si this team managed to pass the Student Creativity Program Empowerment (PKMM) organized by DIKTI. In PKM, they carry the title Vishylicious: Vision Fish Delicious "Processed Fish Products Friendly to the "Hopeless romantic".

Fathia says the intent of Vishylicious is, behind a good fish product, they empower unemployed and unmarried youth or we call the “hopeless romantic”. (flw)
