IPB Build PSDKU Building in Sukabumi
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is starting the construction of Study Program Outside Main Campus (PSDKU) Building in Sukabumi City, West Java. PSDKU is the implementation of higher education activities by university outside its Main Campus. The launching of this building construction was done by Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria and Governor of West Java, Dr. Ahmad Heryawan, Lc, M.Si, Sunday (10/6).
Dr. Arif stated that the construction of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi Building is a form of collaboration between Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and Government of West Java Province. The collaboration is motivated by the effort to improve the quality of human resources in West Java, especially Approximate Participation Rate of Higher Education (APK-PT). Government of West Java Province has been committed to increase APK-PT by means of PSDKU development with some of top national universities in West Java, one of them is Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). The location of PSDKU IPB is located in Sukabumi City on a 30 hectares area. Programs expertise that has been opened since 2017 for Diploma Degree (D3) are Technology and Management of Livestock (TNK), Production Technology and Management of Aquaculture (IKN), Seed Technology Industry (TIB), Eco-tourism (EKW), Communication (KMN), and Agribusiness Management (MAB).
The implementation of academic activities for PSDKU IPB students in Sukabumi City is temporarily held at STIKES Building of Sukabumi City until construction process of new campus of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi is completed. PSDKU IPB Sukabumi Building will be equipped with various supporting facilities and infrastructure accordance with IPB standards, which includes Secretariat of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi, lecture rooms, administration and lecturers rooms, computer laboratory, seminar room, field laboratory (livestock pens, cultivation ponds, experimental field, and others), laboratory material and equipment, lecturers and guests accommodation, dormitory buildings, sport center and so forth,” explained Dr. Arif.
The opening of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi is prepared to become an independent higher education institution in accordance to government regulation, that is a State University (PTN) which is separated from IPB as its parent university. The construction process of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi has been going on since 2016. Student enrollment of PSDKU IPB Sukabumi is held via students invitation system, that is IPB Entry Selection Invitation (USMI), and written examination system.
According to Dr. Ahmad Heryawan, education is very influential to welfare of life in the future, so education is very essential for each generation to support good quality human resources (SDM). “PSDKU IPB Sukabumi is veryopen to the people of West Java, especially the people of Sukabumi. PSDKU IPB Sukabumi facilitates the people of Sukabumi in accessing education by saving the cost of living house, food, and others, because it is located near the students residence. Sukabumi high school students who want to continue higher education, will be able to study at PSDKU IPB Sukabumi,” said that man who familiarly called Aher. (qa)
