IPB University Students Participate in Carnival Commemorating World Environment Day

A number of IPB University students were involved in carnival activities commemorating World Environment Day. This activity was also attended by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the theme ‘Gathering People’s Ideas Towards an Ecologically Just Indonesia’.

The Minister of Environment of the IPB University Student-Family Executive Body (BEM KM), Anto said, “The climate crisis that we are currently experiencing has an impact that is felt by the community. However, we IPB University students have innovations to reduce the impact of climate change that is happening.”

According to him, this activity is also a forum for meetings between youth who are active in the environment. A place to make everyone aware that the environment is very important. “The younger generation who will become leaders must begin to be aware of protecting the environment so that we can see green trees, not garbage or pollution that will become a scourge in the future,” he added.

Coordinator of the National Community Social Forum (Fornassosmas) BEM throughout Indonesia region IV Latif Hidayatul Ikhsan said that the commemoration of the environment day could be a momentum to evaluate what is currently happening.

“How do we feel about the current environment? What is the condition of our forests, our seas and rivers? We also have to realize that have we taken care of the environment?” he said. (*/Rz) (IAAS/YMK)
