Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria graduated 800 graduates for Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Programs. The Phase IV Graduation Procession for the 2022/2023 Academic Year was held at the Grha Widya Wisuda Building, Dramaga Campus, 15/3.

In his speech, the Rector congratulated the graduates who graduated today. He also gave an overview of the various changes that have occurred and the challenges that must be faced by today's graduates.
"Various changes that occur in the world, starting from climate change, the 4.0 industrial revolution, the COVID-9 pandemic as well as the Russian and Ukrainian wars which have resulted in 193 million people experiencing hunger from 53 countries," he said.

Furthermore, the rector mentioned Charles Darwin's theory which is considered relevant in dealing with change. "Charles Darwin in his theory said that species that survive are not the smartest species, nor the strongest, but those that are responsive to change," said Prof Arif.

As an illustration of the importance of being a leader of change, the rector revealed four types of human responses in seeing change. He emphasized that Indonesia will become a great nation and IPB University will become a great university if its people have the mentality of being a leader of change.

"Are we leaders of change who always initiate to step ahead and become a reference? Or followers of change? Or spectators, unwilling and unable to join the mainstream so that they are left behind. Or an opponent of change, unwilling to be disturbed by his comfort zone," he said.

He added, the leader of change is a tough, agile and adaptive learner. Rector of IPB University advised, that after graduating from IPB University, the school of the graduates is life and the teacher is everyone.
"As Ki Hajar Dewantara said that our ability to place everyone is a teacher, take lessons from anyone, can learn from anywhere, rice fields, fields, houses, seas, settlements. What Einstein said also becomes important that once you stop learning, you start dying," added Prof Arif.

While Drh Sukma Kamajaya, Secretary General of the Alumni Association (HA) IPB University said, "Congratulations on joining the big house of HA IPB University. Graduation is the initial stage of entering a new world, a world full of challenges," he explained.

Drh Sukma advised, whatever field will be pursued, graduates need to increase knowledge, always have integrity, always innovate and always be a source of inspiration. "We welcome all alumni to serve three focuses of service, namely service to the almamater, service to alumni, as well as to the nation and state," he concluded. (dh/Rz) (IAAS/ARD)
