IPB Now Amounting 158,913 Alumni
Currently we are in the middle of Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. Even though several consequences of 4.0 technology development have changed the last established structure, this era opened new perspectives about the importance of collaboration to solve complex problems. The advantages of 4.0 technology are supposed to be utilized for fair and sustainable development.
“Industrial Revolution 4.0 agenda, with the development of artificial intelligence, robotics, data sciences, internet of things, cloud, biotechnology, big data, and drones, will bring the structure of life to not only 4.0, but 5.0 society,” said IPB University (IPB) Rector, Dr. Arif Satria, while he led the Graduation Ceremony Phase VI for 2018/2019 Academic Year, Tuesday (30/4), at Graha WIdya Wisuda (GWW), IPB Dramaga Campus.
IPB Rector explained that Society 5.0 is indicated by the digitalization, not only in industries, but in all aspects of human life. “The end of 20th century, as we know, was an era of information society, where distribution of information was very massive, until now we are in the face of Smart Society 5.0 era. The aforementioned conditions cause the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity). Volatility means character, speed, volume, and how big a change is in an unpredictable pattern. Volatility is a turbulence; a phenomenon more likely happens now than in the past. The contributors of the turbulence include digitalization, connectivity, trade liberalization, global competition, and model innovation business,” explained IPB Rector.
IPB Rector reiterated that because of that reason, IPB developed the education sector (Education for Millenial Generation), which includes the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), life based learning, preparation of new professions, entrepreneurship education, improving lecturers’ aptitude in virtual learning, empowerment of Expected Learning Outcome by intensifying research-based teaching and student-centered learning, curriculum reorientation, curriculum reconstruction and rearrangement of study programs according to IPB’s 2045 academic architecture plan, IPB Embro Global Schoolhouse initiate, and improving intake quality by Ketua OSIS (Student’s President) admission path.
“In this graduation ceremony, IPB legitimates the graduates as high-quality human resources who are ready to develop agriculture in a wide context. IPB handed the graduation certificate to 800 graduates, which consists of 386 people from Undergraduate programs, 46 people from Veterinary Profession program, 318 people from Master program, and 50 people from Doctorate program,” said IPB Rector.
With this graduation ceremony, IPB now has 158.913 alumni. The alumni have a strategic role in developing the nation and especially IPB, which will reflect the quality of education that IPB gave to them. (Ard)
