The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) was chosen as the venue for the Batch 1 MIPAnet School Program. The activity, which was launched for the first time by the MIPAnet Secretary General, aims to share knowledge among MIPAnet members throughout Indonesia .

The theme is “Bioinformatics”, which is one of the focuses of the field of study at FMIPA IPB. This activity took place from Friday to Sunday (11-13 / 1) at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences IPB, Bogor Dramaga Campus of IPB.

The activities of MIPAnet School at FMIPA IPB were attended by around 35 participants from 11 universities in Indonesia, including the Bogor Agricultural Institute, University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada University, Diponogoro University, Mulawarman University, Open University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung Islamic University, University State of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Malang State University, and State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.

Dean of FMIPA IPB, Dr. Ir. Sri Nurdiati, MSc said that MIPAnet School is one of the MIPAnet Work Programs in 2019. The purpose of the establishment of MIPAnet School is to increase the collaboration between MIPAnet members through sharing knowledge, especially for final semester students and young lecturers who are starting to organize their careers. The plan, MIPAnet School will be held every month, alternately in various MIPAnet member colleges with varied themes and topics.

For students, MIPAnet School activities can provide benefits in the form of broadening the horizons of science directly from experts in their fields. In addition, they can also establish networks with communities in the same field of science.

The hope is that IPB can play an active role in MIPAnet School’s activities. Through this MIPAnet School activity, IPB students can broaden their knowledge and collaborate with other students in Indonesia. Not only that, students can respect each other, uphold integrity, synergy and togetherness.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of MIPAnet, Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro, M.Sc said, MIPAnet is an established and influential institution in the country and its existence is recognized overseas. MIPAnet is also responsible for improving and developing mathematical and scientific knowledge in improving the quality of education, productivity and efficiency of higher education institutions in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. “The rationale for organizing MIPAnet School activities is to improve the quality of MIPA learning, and the quality of graduates from FMIPA throughout Indonesia,” he added.

He added, MIPAnet aims to improve MIPA’s scientific and educational resources, fight for common interests and enhance the role of MIPA in Indonesian universities. The function of MIPAnet itself is to accommodate and prioritize the aspirations and thoughts of members of MIPAnet, a communication forum for MIPA higher education institutions and a forum for empowering MIPA higher education institutions throughout Indonesia.

The hope is that this activity further strengthens the status of the faculties in mathematics, science and technology, as a weighty and calculated research center. He considered, the existence of scientific disciplines of mathematics, science and technology is the key to change which in the future will also accelerate other fields or scientific disciplines, because the three fields become enablers of change towards the era of information technology.
