IPB & FELCRA Malaysia Collaboration on Agricultural Development Reinforcement in Rural Areas

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) collaborated with FELCRA Education Service Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia. This collaboration program was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 26th, 2018 at the Grand Hyatt, Jakarta. It was carried out by Dr. Arif Satria – Rector of IPB and Zulkarnain MD Eusope – FELCRA Board of Directors, whilst witnessed by YB Rina Mohd Harun – Minister of External Development, Malaysia. Rector of IPB – Dr. Arif stated that IPB development project focuses are agricultural-based rural development synchronized with urban areas. Not only agricultural development, IPB is also determined to advance the human resources qualifications in the village, which has been proven by IPB through its competent graduates who returned to their respective villages and regions, as they are determined to play role as agent-of-change to build regions from various sectors. With the signing of MoU between IPB and FELCRA, Indonesia and Malaysia are expected to be able to inspire the World, particularly in agricultural aspect. Some projects that will be implemented between IPB and FELCRA include improving academic development, student exchanges, rural-based agricultural development, and rural area human resource development. As an initial effort to implement the agreement, IPB planned ahead to send a number of students to join the Community Service Program in 2019 in Malaysia under FELCRA.
