Center for Human Resource Development of the Institute of Research and Community Services, Bogor Agricultural University (P2SDM-LPPM IPB) in collaboration with the Damandiri Foundation held a Regional Posdaya Convention of West Java and Lampung, Saturday (19/11). "This event was attended by more than 2,000 participants consisting of representatives/cadres from West Java and Lampung Posdaya, students involved in KKN (Job Practices) related to family empowerment, ten universities from West Java and Lampunng, who are actively engaged in family empowerment (IPB, Indonesia University of Education, University of Ibn Khaldun Bogor, Suryakancana University of Cianjur, Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi, Singaperbangsa University of Karawang, University of Subang, Wiralodra University of Indramayu, and University of Lampung), and private sectors," said the Chairman of Damandiri Foundation, Prof. Haryono Suyono.
The involvement of various elements in this convention reflects a concrete concern of many stakeholders over the importance of building a society with the concept of empowerment. Posdaya success is measured by a high level of community participation in every activity. "In the long run Posdaya is expected to help governments reduce regional poverty," continued Prof. Haryono. Given the potential and the strategic role of Posdaya as a forum of community empowerment at the grassroots level with the underlying principles of activities by and for the society, said Chairman of Indonesian National Council for Social Welfare (DNIKS), in the long term Posdaya needs to be developed together with both the government, private, banking, military / police, NGOs and so on
Head of P2SDM LPPM IPB, Dr. Ir. Puji Mulyono, MS says that the concrete activities of Posdaya on the filed are 1) education (early childhood education, resident library, schools for Quran study, Islamic studies), 2) health (integrated health services, integrated assistantship for the elders, reproductive health, nutrition classes), 3) economy (microfinance institutions, cooperatives, development of small and medium enterprises ), 4) environment (nutritious garden, waste processing, biopori, healthy homes). "At first Posdaya was not fully accepted by the society. There are some people who suspect Posdaya is an activity of a particular political party group. But after some socialization they understand it," said Dr.Puji.
Apart from universities and local governments, IPB is also working in partnership with private companies such as PT. Akzo Nobel, PT. Indocement, PT. Nutrifood and Rumah Zakat in the development of Posdaya through Corporate Social Responsibility (Mtd)
