Two successful alumni of IPB University, a Senior Manager Global Program and CEO of Your Tea Groups, were invited to the Studium Generale event: Career Preparation for Bachelor’s and Vocational School Graduates, held online, 21/4.

Prof Deni Noviana, Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB University, addressed several aspects related to graduates’ careers post-campus.

“For bachelor’s graduates, life after graduation will be a new world, namely the world of work or entrepreneurship, because graduating from college does not mean the end of everything. Graduates who are already working will have to adapt to the existing conditions again. Therefore, start building strong networks from now on,” he said.

Furthermore, Prof Deni advised graduates to remain flexible, have a growth mindset, learn to seize opportunities, and have strong motivation for any type of job. “Give your best, uphold our alma mater, because IPB University alumni are known as graduates from the best campus,” he added.

He urged graduates to maintain work ethics, always act fairly, honestly, responsibly, be willing to learn from mistakes, and always ask when in doubt.

“Be yourself because everyone has uniqueness, and that is a valuable asset. Through this preparation, I hope that IPB University alumni who have made strides can provide inspiration for graduating students, share experiences, and provide insights that can be valuable assets for them,” he concluded.

Yustika Muharastri, an Agribusiness alumna of IPB University who is currently a Senior Manager Global Program, stated that the responsibilities during college and in careers are different. “When we enter the workforce, we become individuals who can contribute to the organization. What we do is always related to the success of an organization,” she said.

Furthermore, Yustika mentioned that in the workforce, roles are more complex than during college. She emphasized the importance of language skills and the need for a growth mindset to understand interpersonal skills.

“We must understand our own abilities, what we can do, understand ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses, whether there are opportunities, and anticipate the threats we face in the workforce,” she explained.

Meanwhile, another speaker, Indra Thamrin, the CEO of Your Tea Groups, shared steps to becoming a successful entrepreneur. He mentioned that his business now has more than 200 outlets. “I have never worked because since graduating, I have only wanted to be an entrepreneur,” Thamrin said. (IAAS/Hap)
