Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University shared several messages in his Eid al-Fitr 1444 H lecture at Al Ghifari Mosque of IPB (22/4). In that moment, he elaborated that the determination of a Muslim is to create change through four major commitments, namely the commitment to make a legacy, the orientation of novelty and future practice, the commitment to hard work and quality, and a new mindset.

“Muslims, as leaders of change, need to realize these four big commitments so that they will bring the nation to progress,” said Prof Arif.

According to him, this determination is a form of gratitude for humans who are assigned to be khalifah on earth. By spreading benefits to others, Muslims will also provide a good quality of life, for themselves and others around them.

“We will become khoirunnaas, the best humans who continue to spread benefits for the prosperity of this earth. And this is our form of gratitude for all the blessings that Allah has given to humans,” he said in front of the congregation.

Prof Arif explained that grateful people are proactive people. As a khalifah, they will utilize the blessings to carry out their function in creating prosperity on earth while protecting the life of the world from damage.

“Thus, we can carry out our responsibilities as servants of Allah who continue to establish habluminallah, habluminannas and habluminalalam to the fullest. However, we cannot do it alone. We must unite, synergize and collaborate,” he explained.

He emphasized that Eid can be an important momentum to strengthen unity for the greater interest of the nation. The reason is that humans are now faced with an era of disruption that changes the order of life.

“If we want progress in our control, then there is no other choice but to become leaders of change. Being a leader of change is actually carrying out the function of a caliph who continues to create prosperity and protect the earth from damage,” he said.

Prof Arif elaborated, the leader of change is not a position, but an exemplary mentality to always innovate that has a positive impact on social change. Everyone can be a leader of change at their respective levels and scales according to their abilities.

“Let us spread ideas and inspiration for the progress of the nation. We unite our steps to create new legacies for the progress of the nation. Let us realize Indonesia as baldatun toyyibatun warabbun ghofuur,” he concluded. (MW/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
