IPB University Rises by 100 Ranks in QS World University Ranking
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) independent institution, as one of organizers of World Universities Ranking (WUR), issued the official ranking results valid from June 2019 to May 2020. It the mentioned result, IPB University has recorded a jump of 100 positions against its rank of 701-750 in QS WUR 2019 to be placed now at 601-650th rank for QS QUR 2020. The ranking of the QS WUR 2020 was carried out on 1,620 universities this year, meeting the requirements of a total of 4,763 tertiary institutions considered in 151 countries. The assessment was strictly carried out yearly based on six assessment categories, namely academic reputation, employer reputation, lecturer and student ratio, scientific publication citations per lecturer, international lecturer ratios, and international students ratio. The indicators that significantly strengthened the position of IPB University this year included academic reputation and internationalization. Rector—Dr. Arif Satria sincerely expressed his gratitude that this achievement is seen as the result of the hard work in research and internationalization performance improvement programs, along with the increasing enthusiasm for innovation. The ranking is not a goal, but a result of a process of organizing Tri Dharma progressively and innovatively. The orientation of IPB University continues to contribute as much as possible to the strengthening of innovation for people’s welfare and the progress of the nation. As well known, in the last ten years, IPB University was the university with the nation’s most innovation (39 percent) according to the Business Innovation Center. The Chair of QS WUR Task Force of IPB University—Prof. Dr. Anas M. Fauzi conveyed the need for continuous efforts to improve academic reputation and performance, accompanied by support for education and research infrastructure, data and information systems, facilitation for international partnership, improvement of graduate employability, and strengthening promotion. Increasing human resource capacity and community empowerment are also expected to continue to improve IPB University’s academic reputation.
