The Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) again held the Studium Generale Briefing Career Pre Graduation Stage I Academic Year 2018/2019. The event was held at the Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium of the Dramaga Campus of IPB, Bogor (17/9).

In his speech, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Drajat Martianto, MSc said that education at IPB was a complete education for graduates. IPB has provided knowledge in the form of hard skills and soft skills, but there are many things that still need to be studied and observed even though they are no longer in college. Graduates will no longer face exams such as midterms, final semester exams, comprehension exams, but the biggest test is a test of life in society.

"Everyone knows, the grade point average (GPA) is an important factor to show our achievements, but the GPA turns out to be in the 20th rank as a determinant of success. The quality of the best universities is also ranked number 30 as a determinant of the success factor. So what? According to Jack Ma, if you want to succeed the key is creativity and independent thinking, "he said.

In this studium generale graduates are given and given success tips to face the post-graduation period. The Head of Sub-Directorate of Career and Character Development, Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development, Handian Purwawangsa, S.Hut, M.Sc., on this occasion socialized the IPB Santripreneur and Young Farmers program.

"This is the first program at IPB. IPB will facilitate the graduates who want to become farmers. This is a new program that starts from the many questions why IPB graduates are not farmers. For this reason, IPB will launch a training center for Santripreneur and Young Farmers. Here graduates who want to become farmers will be trained for two weeks, we are looking for capital facilities, from BRI, BNI with the People's Business Credit (KUR) scheme. IPB graduates who are interested can get a loan without interest. Regarding land, the Bogor Regency Bappeda has already registered. There are 13 hectares of sleeping land that can be used, "he said

According to him, all the commodities developed by Santripreneur and Youth Farmers are already prospective buyers. For example, PT. Sidomuncul requires two tons per day of dried katuk leaves.

"Or want to be a spinach farmer. It takes one ton per day for Japanese restaurants. Now the ability to supply spinach is only 100-150 kg per day. Young Farmers certainly will not be released just like that. After being trained, Young Farmers can directly produce. There will be an audition to qualify as a Young Farmer. So those who really have the intention and are ready, will be financed. Next month the IPB Young Farmers Program will be launched, "he said.

In addition, there will be a Coffee School Program and open to ten participants. This opportunity was given to IPB graduates who really wanted to become Baristas. While for graduates who want to immediately start their careers at the company, there will be a Job Fair on September 20-21 2018, where IPB graduates can immediately apply for jobs.

In this Studium Generale, IPB presented R. Sophia Alizsa, Human Resources Director (HR) of BRI Bank who was also an alumni of IPB. Sophia said that graduation was the beginning of the struggle. Being successful is not easily obtained. Smart capital is not enough. For example, how often Jak Ma is rejected in several universities.

"Success is not obtained instantly. At BRI, 75 percent of its employees are millennial generations. Key number one is integrity. Integrity is not maintained, we are dealing with the law. There are five values that we must have, namely integrity, attitude, capacity, spirit, and performance. In each person the graduates must have a positive imaginary tattoo. Having a good imaginary tattoo will form a personal brand, "he said.

On this occasion, Sophia also gave five tips for the millennial generation. That is never stop learning at work. Be unique, explore and seek self-uniqueness.

"Make our expertise felt and our existence can contribute to the community or workplace. Keep creative, try to think out of the box and creatively solve problems. Stop complaining, try to find solutions when facing problems and must be ready to provide solutions. Strong relationship, build relationships with various parties and positive parties, "he said. (NR)
