At the beginning of June 2018, the independent QS institution as one of the world's university ranking organizers issued official results ranking QS University World Rank 2019 period June 2018 – May 2019. Based on these results, IPB is in the top five best university rankings in Indonesia after University of Indonesia (UI), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and Padjadjaran University (Unpad).

In the world ranking system, IPB is ranked 701-750 which increased from the previous year in the ranking of 751-800. "This year, IPB has increased its ranking compared to the previous year, which is ranked World University Ranking (WUR) to 701-750. In the previous release, Asia University Ranking (AUR) placed IPB at 147th rank, while in category ranking by the subject of agriculture and forestry, IPB retain the previous year position which is ranked 51-100," said Director of International Program of IPB, Prof. Iskandar Z. Siregar.

Prof.Iskandar responded to the current position of IPB ratings as a positive thing to continue to improve the quality of education, research and community service. Moreover, in this QS University Rankings, the assessment is done strictly every year with an increasing number of new colleges who entered the assessment, about 60 newcomers.

The ranking of QS World University Ranking was conducted on 1,233 qualified colleges of a total of 4,763 college institutions from 151 countries. Assessment of a number of universities continues to be evaluated on the basis of six assessment categories: academic reputation, employer reputation, lecturer and student ratios, scientific lecture publications per lecturer and international lecturer ratio, as well as the ratio of international students. According to Prof. Iskandar, the release of the ranking by QS University should be a driver to continue working hard in an effort to build the reputation and visibility of IPB in general.

"Through this ranking, we hope IPB is increasingly recognized by the academic community of the world. Especially by the world of work and strategic partners both nationally and internationally. Obviously, we also must always try to improve the ranking, in order to achieve ranking above 500 in the world," he said.

Prof. Iskandar said that the achievement of this international ranking increase would never be achieved without the cooperation and hard efforts made by all IPB members.
