1,600 Students of IPB Take KKN-P (Profession-Based Field Work Practice) in 261 Villages Monday, May 10, 2015

Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held the first briefing on KKN-P, Saturday (2/5) at Graha Widya Graduation (GWW) Dramaga Campus Bogor. KKN-P is a form of education by providing learning experiences for students to live directly with the community outside the campus to identify and address the problems of agriculture and the environment and other issues faced in rural areas.

 
In his report, Committee Chairman of KKN-P IPB for 2015, Dr. Yayat Hidayat explained, "Field Work Practice (KKN) IPB have been conducted since the 1970s. Until 2002, it must be taken by all IPB’s undergraduates. In 2002-2010, Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) transformed this activity into KKP-IPB (IPB professional work practice). In 2010, it was integrated among the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), and the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM). In 2014 it was further integrated involving Faperta, Fema, FEM and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. In 2015 it is changed into a Profession-Based Real Work Practice (KKN-P). KKN-P IPB in the future will be a thematic one designed in an integrated way among the faculties and implemented on the field by team work (inter-professional) of professions in IPB ".
 
KKN-P IPB in 2015 involves 1,600 students: 444 students of Faperta, 400 students of Fema, 529 students of FEM, 219 students of Animal Husbandry, five students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), and three students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK).
 
Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr Yonny Kusmaryono officially opened this Briefing of KKN-P. He expects KKN-P 2015 is the beginning of KKN-P that will be applied by all Faculties in IPB in the following year.
 
Meanwhile, a general lecture was given by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) IPB Prof. Dr M.A. Chozin on the theme "The Urgency of Profession-Based Real Work Practice to Support the Accelerated Rural Development". The next session presented Dr. Ninuk Purnaningsih of the Department of Communication Science and Community Development (SKPM) FEMA IPB, who talked about "Preparation of Profession-Based Real Work Practice (KKN-P)". Another speaker was Dr. Sugeng Santoso, Head of Sub Directorate of Interest and Talent of the Directorate of Student Affairs, discussing "Student Ethics in the Community where they have KKN-P".
 
Locations of KK-P IPB in 2015 consist of 22 Regencies, 56 Districts, and 261 villages, listed as follows. In the province of West Java: Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Subang, Indramayu, Cirebon, Kuningan, Sumedang, Majalengka, and Garut; in Central Java: Cilacap, Tegal, Brebes, Sukoharjo and Jepara; in Banten Province: Pandeglang and Lebak; and in the Riau Islands Province: Natuna and Meranti.
