To Tighten the Connections, IPB University Invites PMM Students to Break the Fasting Together as well as Evaluate the Mid-Semester Examination

IPB University organised a breakfasting event as well as Evaluation of the Midterm Examination (UTS) of Even Semester 2023/2024 for students of the Batch 4 Independent Student Exchange (PMM) programme. The event was held at Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus.
Dr Utami Dyah Syafitri, Coordinator of PMM IPB University Batch 4 conveyed, the main purpose of this event was to evaluate the implementation of UTS that had been undertaken by PMM students at IPB University. In addition, to strengthen the relationship between students, lecturers, and liaison officers (LO).
“The hope is that this event will further strengthen PMM students and strengthen the bonding between lecturers and LOs. They already meet every week. This is an appreciation to them in the atmosphere of Ramadan,” said Dr Utami.
Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof drh Deni Noviana, also attended the event and opened the event.
He gave a message to students with the philosophy of bees, namely how to be a good human being.
Prof Deni said, bees have three characters. First, they only take what they need or what is good, such as nectar from flowers; second, they produce honey as a valuable product; and third, when they land on flowers, they do not damage them.
“That is more or less like your character today. You come to take the good, don’t take the bad. If what you take is good, then what you will bring out later will also be good. The third character, when you are here, you must bring benefits and also not make damage,” said Prof Deni.
After the opening speech by Prof Deni, the event continued with a talk with Dr Zenal Asikin, lecturer at IPB Business School, about science and accountability.
Dr Zenal conveyed the motto “Ilmu Amaliah dan Amal Ilmiah”, that the knowledge gained must be put to good use and provide benefits to all mankind.
“The end of our knowledge is not merely to seek wealth, but the most important thing is the curse of knowledge and the curse of wisdom, the wiser we are, the broader our perspective, not easily blaming others for differences in views,” said Dr Zenal.
Putri Nabilla, one of the PMM students who came from Payakumbuh State Polytechnic as well as the Head of PMM Tribe 4 said that this event was the event they had been waiting for because they had only gathered once, namely during the admission ceremony, so this event was very interesting and memorable.
“Hopefully in the future PMM 4 can be more solid. With this short time we can establish warmth, togetherness again, and also not divide each other. Even though we are from the archipelago, we can unite differences with togetherness,” said Putri. (Shintia/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
