IPB University Delegation Visits the Embassy of Kenya, Strengthening Education Cooperation

A delegation of IPB University visited the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Jakarta to strengthen cooperation in the field of education (4/12). The delegation from IPB University was led by the Dean of the Graduate School (SPs), Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat.
He was accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof Yusli Wardiatno and the Director of Global Connectivity, Dr Eva Anggraeni. The delegation was welcomed directly by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to Indonesia, Galma M Boru, EBS and one of the embassy diplomats.
In this meeting, the IPB University delegation conveyed the latest developments in cooperation between IPB University and Kenya, especially related to the Port of Indonesia (Pelindo) scholarship program and the Indofood scholarship. One of the main focuses of the discussion was the follow-up on the planned arrival of prospective master students from Kenya funded by the Pelindo scholarship.
Prof Dodik expressed his commitment to accept more students from Kenya. He emphasized that IPB University is very open and ready to be a place for Kenyan students to continue their studies, both at the master’s and doctoral levels.
“We believe this cooperation will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of education,” he said.
In addition, the delegation of IPB University also utilized this opportunity to convey the desire for cooperation with several universities in Kenya. Prof Yusli Wardiatno said that IPB University saw great potential to build strategic partnerships with universities in Kenya, both through student exchanges, joint research, and sandwich programs.
“The support of the Kenyan Embassy will be very helpful in realizing this cooperation,” he added.
Dr Eva Anggraeni added that this relationship is not only beneficial for Kenyan students, but also provides an opportunity for IPB University students to gain global experience.
“We hope this initiative can strengthen academic relations and open up opportunities for collaboration in the broader research field,” she added.
Meanwhile, Galma M Boru, EBS gave appreciation for IPB University’s initiative. Currently, the Kenyan government views Indonesia as a very potential educational destination, with quality equivalent to many developed countries but with more affordable financing.
“We expect IPB University and other leading Indonesian universities to organize education fairs in Nairobi to attract more Kenyan students,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, the IPB University delegation expressed its readiness to follow up on various proposals, including organizing an education exhibition in Kenya, as part of efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries in the field of education. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
