The Farmers and Fishermen Center (TNC) IPB University successfully held the #TNCTalksE05 Webinar Series with the theme ‘Towards the Halal Market: Food MSMEs’ Strategies in Facing Mandatory Halal Certification 2024’. This webinar was held via Zoom Meeting and broadcast live on TNC IPB’s YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram channels.

The sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is very important to increase productivity, income, and product quality according to government standards, one of which is halal certification.

The Chief of TNC IPB University, Prof Hermanu Triwidodo, expressed his gratitude to all parties who supported this event. He hopes that this webinar can encourage the implementation of halal certification that is beneficial for MSME actors.

‘TNC IPB University wants to encourage the implementation of certification obligations to bring glory, especially to MSME actors,” he hoped.

In addition, IPB University’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi also opened the event. He emphasized the importance of information and knowledge about applying for halal certification for MSMEs.

“Through this event, we hope that the public will gain a deeper understanding of halal certification,” said Prof Ernan.

This webinar was hosted by a lecturer from the IPB University Vocational School and Assistant for Certification and Competence, IPB University Leadership and Executive Education Institute (LKPE), Ima Kusumanti, SPi, MSc. In addition, this activity was also attended by two speakers, namely Dr Mulyorini Rahayuningsih, an IPB University lecturer from the Department of Agroindustrial Technology, and Septiva Herlin Artati, SP, CEO of Bumbu Racik Sari Rempah.

Dr Mulyorini Rahayuningsih explained the regulations and provided tips on applying for halal certification. She ensured that the government had developed a program to facilitate MSMEs in the certification process.

“Don’t worry about facing October 17th, 2024, especially food and beverage MSMEs, as well as animal slaughtering services that must be halal certified,” she said.

Septiva Herlin Artati, SP shared her experience as an MSME actor in the halal certification application process. As an active woman in various food MSME communities in Bogor, she also revealed the difficulties she faced and how to overcome these challenges.

“In addition to halal certification, MSMEs will face more challenges in the future. The only way is to face all these challenges together,” she said.

This webinar aims to provide MSME actors with an in-depth understanding of the importance of halal certification as well as the strategies and steps needed to face the halal certification obligation which will take effect in October 2024.
