SKHB IPB University and Leica Microsystem Organise Microscope Technical and Application Training

School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) IPB University in collaboration with Leica Microsystem held a Microscope Technical and Application Training on Friday, 19/1. The training presented resource person Fajar Ade Wijaya from PT Biogen Scientific Indonesia as an agent of Leica Microsystem in Indonesia.
The material presented by Fajar included an explanation of the components, types, functions and utilisation of microscopes for education and research. “Taking care of the lens is one that is often considered difficult by many laboratory assistants. We recommend that you do not use silol to clean the lens, just a soft cotton swab soaked in 96 per cent alcohol,” said Fajar.
He continued, to maintain the lens, clean it in a circular motion starting from the centre point of the lens, then moving outwards. The movement is to avoid dust remaining in the centre area of the lens.
“This training gave the participants the opportunity to use the microscope directly with preparations observed and brought by some participants. There are two types of microscopes used during the training, namely compound microscopes and one digital microscope,” said Fajar. (kms/Lp) (IAAS/RSL)
