The Legal Services Bureau of IPB University held a Workshop on Drafting Internal Regulations. The workshop held at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor City was attended by representatives of units authorized to form rules within IPB University.

This workshop presented a lecturer from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, Dr Fitra Arsil and a regulatory drafter at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) RI, Pramasti Puspandhita, SH as resource persons.

In his speech, the Secretary of IPB University, Prof Agus Purwito assessed that the workshop was important to improve the quality of legal products produced at IPB University. He said, legal products issued by IPB University were the basis for implementing policies.

“The workshop on the preparation of internal laws and regulations is very important, because the number of legal products produced by IPB University is large. Not to mention the regulations of the board of trustees, regulations of the academic senate, then the regulations and decrees of faculties/schools which are really many,” Prof Agus said.

Prof Agus hoped that the workshop could provide an understanding for rule makers at IPB University, especially about grammar and systematic preparation that must be considered. “Hopefully we get the answers to some questions that has come to our mind,” he said.

The Chairperson of the Legal Services Bureau of IPB University, Widodo Bayu Ajie, SH explained that this workshop was aimed to increase general knowledge about the preparation of internal regulations within IPB University. Internal regulations were needed considering IPB University as a State University with Legal Entity (PTN BH) which has autonomy in resource management.

“This workshop is actually more of a knowledge sharing session related to the preparation of internal laws and regulations of IPB University. Since IPB University does not have a law faculty, we invite several resource persons as material providers so that those who form regulations understand the substance and the systematics,” Bayu explained.

He added, internal legal products within IPB University included regulations and decisions of the board of trustees, regulations and decisions of the academic senate, regulations and decisions of the rector, as well as regulations and decisions of faculty/school deans. The workshop was expected to facilitate the preparation of these legal products with excellent quality.

“Hopefully, after this workshop, the legal products that IPB University produces can be in accordance with applicable legal principles, both in terms of systematic preparation, substance, and formal process,” he concluded. (MHT) (IAAS/SHY)
