Officially Opened, the Faculty of Medical Sciences IPB University Allocated 20 Percent of its Quota for Underprivileged Students

IPB University provides scholarships for prospective students of the Study Program (Prodi), Faculty of Medical Sciences (FK) with economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Scholarships are given to 20 percent of the total quota of FK IPB University students. This was conveyed by the Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof drh Deni Noviana, when met on the sidelines of his busy life on Friday (4/8).
“IPB University is a university that is the first to accept students of the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medical Sciences, with a total quota of 50 students. This year, the entrance route is open only through the IPB Entrance Independent Selection (SM-IPB). For this reason, we will allocate 20 percent of the quota for FK IPB University students with economically disadvantaged backgrounds who meet the score requirements,” explained Prof Deni.
Furthermore, Prof Deni said that, in general, the composition of the distribution of IPB University students is evenly distributed in 35 provinces. Of that composition, as many as 40 percent are scholarship recipients.
He added that IPB University scholarships are generally divided into two categories based on merit and economic background. “We have a general map of the various reception paths. Especially for the opening of FK IPB University, which only accepts independent pathways this year, quotas must be allocated for students with poor economies,” he said.
“The existence of this 20 percent quota is a mandate of the law that every citizen has the right to access education. This is an opportunity for any academically capable high school student. IPB University does not look at the economic background, it does not see which area, please register,” he added.
Prof Deni explained that the provision of scholarships came from various sources of funding. One of the programs is the College Smart Indonesia Card (KIP-K). This program gives priority to underprivileged students and applies nationally.
“In addition, IPB University also partners with many scholarship donors, such as local governments and private institutions from within and outside the country. Until now, there have been about 63 donor institutions with a total value of 112 billion for scholarships. We also have a UKT installment scheme to relieve students,” he explained.
Prof Deni said this year IPB University received the trust to contribute to producing doctors in Indonesia. “FK IPB University has met the standards of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) and the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAMPT-Kes), so we are confident that we will carry out education as well as possible,” he concluded.
