IPB Mengajar again presented the Inspiration Class programme in Edelweis XII which was held at Mahfudzul Hayatiyah Private Elementary School (SDS), Cianjur, West Java. The Inspiration Class programme entitled ‘Synergising, Inspiring, Building Dreams’ was delivered by 12 Inspirational Teachers to the students.

Putri Hasna as the person in charge said, the Inspiration Class programme is an activity carried out by IPB Teaching Management and Inspirational Teachers by presenting learning that prioritises the introduction of professions and ideals. Through Inspiration Classes that share stories about professions and the tasks they carry out, it is hoped that students can be inspired and helped in visualising their respective dreams.

“This programme begins with an introduction to several occupational professions, such as police, firefighters, architects, cooks, teachers and others. After explaining several professions, the teacher invites students to determine what they want to achieve in the future,” explained Putri.

She further explained that students who have written down their dreams, then attach them to the dream tree that has been prepared. The dream tree is a medium that can help students to express the dreams they want to achieve in the future.

“The Inspirational Teachers have conducted training on how they can deliver material and problem-based learning. The Kelas Inspirasi programme invites students to solve problems in the future by determining their dreams and aspirations,” said Putri.

Although it is intended for all grades, Putri said the Kelas Inspirasi programme is more focused and centralised for grades 4 to 6. This is because students in these grades are already at the level that will mutate to the next level.

“When we go into the classroom and bring learning media for Kelas Inspirasi such as cartons and business cards, they are curious and welcome the learning with great enthusiasm. Then, when we explained about the meaning of dreams and aspirations, they focused on listening to what we said,” said Navia Junia Arifsyah, one of the Inspirational Teachers involved.

She also conveyed the ways that students’ dreams can be achieved, one of which is by learning and being a smart child. “When watching videos about various professions, they actively ask what they don’t understand and answer what they understand,” she continued.

Another Inspirational Teacher, Fadlan Eka Priatna, said that the Grade 5 children he taught were very enthusiastic about the activity. “When we wrote ‘Kelas Inspirasi’ on the blackboard, we could see their enthusiasm and curiosity,” he said.

“Together with my teaching partner, April, we divided the students into two groups. They always showed their enthusiasm to achieve their dreams. One of the activities they enjoyed was the process of sticking leaf-shaped origami on a cardboard with a picture of a tree, which we named Dream Tree,” Fadlan added. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
