The Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University provides faculty-level debriefing to students who will do community service through the 2023 Innovative – Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T). By holding faculty-level debriefing, it is hoped that it can increase student readiness in dealing with situations in the target village of KKN-T Innovation.

Dr Feryanto, Lecturer at the Agribusiness Department of IPB University, on that occasion presented material on realizing inclusive and sustainable development of villages and agro-maritime communities.

“The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 17 goals, 169 targets and 241 indicators apply to all countries (universal), so that all developed countries, without exception, have a moral obligation to achieve the SDGs goals and targets,” he said. He also explained the 18 goals in the village SDGs which contained information regarding implementation in the KKN-T Innovation work program.

Lecturer in the Department of Economics at IPB University, Dr Muhammad Findi delivered material on optimizing the development of local resources to reduce poverty. “One of the characteristics of empowering the local economy is providing a market opportunity and improving product quality on an ongoing basis, so as to increase the income of the local community,” he said.

At the end of the material presentation, Dr Findi advised that Innovative KKN-T could be the right moment for students to provide input and support to the local community in the village. This activity can also be a stimulus for community empowerment so that it is more competitive and reduces village poverty.

Another speaker, Ranti Wiliasih, SP, MSi as a Lecturer in the Department of Syariah Economics at IPB University, reviewed the introduction of  Self-declared ‘Halal’  to micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) as an effort to increase halal awareness in society. She further explained the importance of a product getting halal certification.

Meanwhile, the resilience and sustainability strategy for UMKM was conveyed by Dr Eko Ruddy Cahyadi who is a Lecturer in the Management Department of IPB University. He conveyed the role of students in facilitating the resilience and sustainability of UMKM. “The five key elements in UMKM resilience include resilience, flexibility, emergency planning, learning and innovation abilities and strong leadership,” he explained.

Finally, the closing material was filled by Dr Meti Ekayani, Lecturer at the Department of Resource and Environmental Economics at IPB University who conveyed appropriate technology for community-based waste management. On that occasion, she introduced programs regarding waste management that can be implemented during the Innovative KKN-T implementation and the importance of awareness regarding waste to the community.

IPB University Innovative KKN-T students also received material provision regarding tips and tricks for video editing, news writing and popular articles in the mass media. At the end of the activity, Dr Burhanuddin, Chair of the Agribusiness Department and IPB 2023 Innovation KKN-T Committee explained the implementation of activities and outputs that must be prepared by IPB 2023 Innovation KKN-T students.
