The Embassy of Kenya Makes a Visit to IPB University

HE Galma Mukhe Boru, Embassy of the Republic of Kenya to Indonesia paid a visit to IPB University. The delegation was received directly by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria in the Rector’s Office at the Dramaga Campus of IPB, (27/3). According to Ambassador Mukhe Boru, IPB University is a very important institution in the field of education. There will be many things that Kenya can learn from IPB University.
Mukhe Boru said, Kenya is a country with an agriculture-based economy. The agricultural sector contributes three percent to Kenya's gross domestic product (PDB).
"My visit today is for collaboration between IPB University and agricultural universities in Kenya, such as with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture (JKUAT) and the University of Nairobi," said the Kenyan Embassy.
Through this collaboration, he hopes that students from Kenya can come and study at IPB University, invest in education and return to Kenya to develop agriculture there.
For now, his party is looking for scholarships for Kenyan students who come to study at IPB University, both undergraduate, master and doctoral programs. "For starters, we hope that five people can be accepted at IPB University," he added.
Responding to this, the Rector of IPB University welcomed this collaboration. he said,
IPB University will collaborate to develop Kenyan agriculture. In addition, IPB University also plans to create a training center for farmers.
"This collaboration is important as a form of Indonesia's contribution to changing the world. We have also prepared scholarships for Kenyan students to study at IPB University. I think this scholarship is very possible and important to improve cooperative relations between Kenya and Indonesia," said Prof Arif.
On that occasion, IPB University's Director of Global Connectivity, Dr Eva Anggraini said, so far at IPB University there have been quite a number of foreign students from countries in Africa, but there are still relatively few from Kenya.
"Currently IPB University wants to develop collaboration with African countries, especially in the field of research. In addition, we want to increase the number of international students studying at IPB University. Kenya has a fairly large agricultural college, so it has great potential to collaborate in agriculture," added Dr Eva.
At the meeting, the Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni Relations, Prof Iskandar Z Siregar, Secretary of The Board, Prof Agus Purwito and Director of International Education, Puji Mudiana, SP, MA were also present. (*/Rz) (IAAS/SHY)
