Ministry’s “Academic Leader Awards 2019” Granted Three Awards for IPB University

This year, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti) bestowed series of “Academic Leader Award 2019” as one of forms of highest appreciation for lecturers who have fabricated innovations that are highly significant and beneficial towards the nation’s development. The award whose ceremony was held in Jakarta on October 1^st, 2019, divided into 3 (three) categories, namely “Lecturer” category (in 8 different fields, such as Education, Social Humanities, Art and Culture, Science, Technology, Maritime, Agriculture and Health), “Lecturer with Added responsibility as University Leader” category, and “Head of Higher Education Service Body” category. IPB University is humbled to receive one award in each category. Rector of IPB University—Dr. Arif Satria is awarded Runner-Up prize in category of “Lecturer with Added Responsibility as University Leader”.

On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Slamet Budijanto, MAgr, from IPB Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, was announced as the 1^st place in category of “Lecture”, in “Technology” field. Prof. Slamet who is also acting as Vice Dean in Resources, Partnerships, and Development was awarded for his remarkable innovation in developing food diversification from local food resources aiming for food independence empowerment. Besides, Dr. Illah Sailah from IPB Department of Agroindustrial Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, was also placed 2^nd in category of “Head of Higher Education Service Body”.

Directorate General for Resources for Science, Technology and Higher Education at Kemenristekdikti—Prof. Ali Ghufron during his remarks expressed that the awarded winners and runner-ups are lecturers who possess such inspiring characters, enthusiasm in creation, and excellence. He denoted that one of most important thing is visionary that reflects how lecturers direct their affiliated institution/university in the forthcoming future. In this Industrial Era 4.0, lecturers should not be merely limited to deliver teachings but also develop, socialize and transform the knowledge to benefit the wider society. He as well emphasized that excellent human resources such as top tier quality students, lecturers, researchers and staffs could not maintain their existence without quality universities as the core platform. Thus, to create conducive academic climate, quality leadership becomes essential.
