Innalillaahi wa inna illaihi roojiuun, one of the best sons of IPB University, Dr. Ir. Mohamad Yamin, M.Agr.Sc, passed away on Wednesday, 4 September 2019 at PMI Bogor Hospital.

Dr. Yamin was the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) who was born in Jakarta on 23 September 1963. He was a lecturer with expertise in Small Ruminants Production at the Department of Animal Production and Technology (IPTP), Faculty of Animal Husbandry, IPB University in the Section of Meat Cattle, Work and Various Livestock.

During his life, Dr. Yamin occupied various positions, namely as Director of Human Resources of IPB University in 2003-2007, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry in 2007-2011, and Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry for two periods (in 2011-2015 and in 2015-present). In 1986, he completed his undergraduate degree in animal production at IPB University. He earned a Master of Science title in Animal Production from the University of Queensland, St. Lucia, Australia in 1993. And in 2006, he completed his doctoral degree in Animal Science at Adelaide University, Australia. As a lecturer, he taught some subjects, namely Animal Behavior and Welfare (S1), Small Ruminant Production Technology (S1), Animal Husbandry Product Processing Techniques (S1), Introduction to Animal Product Industry Management, Small Ruminant Management, and Small Ruminant Husbandry.

His organizational activities during his lifetime included the Member of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectual Association (ICMI) in 1996-2000, Member of the Animal Husbandry Alumni Association (Hanter) since 1987, Chairperson of the Profession and Science Division of the Indonesian Animal Husbandry Bachelor Association (ISPI) since 2003, Member of the Indonesian Sheep and Goat Breeders' Association (HPDKI) since 2004, Member of the Indonesian Rabbit Society Association (Himakindo) since 2006, and Member of the Indonesian Animal Husbandry Scientists Association (HILPI) since 2011.

Dr. Yamin had achieved various achievements, including Lecturer with the Best Score on Teaching and Learning Evaluation Process for Even Semester 2008/2009 at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB University, Level I Excellent Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB University in 2010, and 20 years Satya Lancana Karya Satya from the State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia in 2010.

Dr. Yamin had also published some articles in various proceedings and journal. His paper titled 'The quality of local sheep skin and leather with different drying methods' was published in the Proceedings of the 3th International Seminar on Tropical Animal Production in October 2002 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, while another paper titled 'Effect of sire, sex and type of birth and rearing on follicle shutdown in Merino sheep' was published in the Proceedings of the 9th Congress of the Asian Australasian Association of Animal Production Societies (AAAP) and the 23th Biennial Conference of the Australian Society of Animal Production (ASAP) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 2000. Other publications were in the Journal of Animal Sciences in 2010 entitled 'Effect of Sire, Sex and Type of Birth and Rearing on Follicle Shut Down in Merino Sheep' and 'Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy for the Measurement of the Sulfur Content of Merino Wool' in 2000.

Dr. Yamin left a wife, namely Ir. Yani Widiruswati, a son named Alif Ramdhani Yamin, ST, MSc, a daughter-in-law namely Bintari Ayu Ratnaningtyas, SSi, and two grandchildren namely Keira Nottisha Putri and Kylegro Arkatama Putra. (YDI/Zul/zsp)
