IPB University welcomed the memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement which was the beginning to build cooperation and synergy between IPB University and PT.Tani Group Indonesia. The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University, Dr. Nunung Nuryartono with CEO and Co-Faounder of PT. Tani Group Indonesia, Iwan Arie Sustiawan, Friday (16/8), at the Dramaga Campus.

Dr. Arif Satria said that now is an era of collaboration where if you want to progress and succeed you must be able to build synergy or cooperation with any party. This is in accordance with the vision of IPB University to become a Techno-Socio Entrepreneurial University that produces technopreneurs and sociopreneurs that can bring powerful business or economic actors, at least to become agents of successful agricultural development.

Furthermore, Rector of IPB University said, the collaboration with PT. Tani Group Indonesia is an excellent opportunity to continue to synergize and collaborate with each other in the current era. Changes that are so fast that are full of uncertainties, especially in the world of agriculture are very high including uncertainty over harvests, climate, markets and uncertainty about capital.

“At present in the world of agriculture can not see only one variable, but must be able to see in relation to each other. So now this is not an era anymore only know trees but must know the forest and must know the ecosystem. For this reason, IPB University is well aware that agriculture is an ecosystem that is always well connected. The world of agriculture has now entered a fast-changing and changing industry that is characterized by the use of integrated automation machines with internet networks. The agricultural sector also needs to adapt to meet the challenges ahead. From tillage, planting, harvesting to processing done using a remote control from home, “he explained.

Dean of FEM IPB University, Dr. Nunung Nuryartono said that nowadays there are many emerging from various corners of this country, the enthusiasm for farming has arisen from among young people. This collaboration is not just a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), but will be followed up with activities that go directly to the field. IPB can cooperate with PT. Tani Group Indonesia to improve agriculture in Indonesia.

“Hopefully with this collaboration FEM IPB University is ready to help help improve how young people are more passionate in the agricultural sector and can contribute to the nation. Therefore IPB University equips its students to always have analytical and critical power in any environment and can always create value creation, “he said.

While the CEO of PT. Tani Group Indonesia, Iwan Arie Sustiawan explained Tani Group was established in 2016, a startup company engaged in the field of agricultural technology. Tani Group consists of two business lines, namely TaniHub and TaniFund. TaniHub is a business-to-business e-commerce for agricultural, livestock and fishery products as well as a liaison between farmers and individual customers and self-service, while TaniFund is a crowdfunding forum for programs, agricultural cultivation and providing funding opportunities to farmers. Since its establishment in mid-2016, TaniHub has succeeded in helping farmers to market various agricultural products both domestically and abroad.

“PT. Tani Group can move on how they can actively participate in creating an Indonesian agriculture ecosystem that is much better, more prosperous and more just. We have to know the needs of farmers such as being able to help yields, can help prices, the sales process is not complicated and finally can be helped to develop wider agriculture so that it can produce better, “he said.
