The delegation of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a series of collaborative meetings with Japanese partner institutions on October 22 and 23, 2018. Representatives consisted of Dr. Arif Satria – Chancellor of IPB, Prof. MA Chozin – Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Sintho W Ardie – Head of International Program Services Sub Directorate, IPB International Program Directorate. After arrival in Tokyo on October 22, 2018, the event began with a joint meeting with the Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to Japan – Mochamad Abas Ridwan and Education Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Japan – Dr. Alinda FM Zain at the Office of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo. The discussion emphasized the importance of the role of higher education in strengthening Japanese-Indonesian relations, especially in the field of fisheries and agriculture. During a souvenir exchange session, Dr. Arif Satria received T-shirts to commemorate the 60th year of Indonesia-Japan relations from the Embassy, ??while IPB handed over the IPB promotion package.

After a visit to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on October 22, 2018, the delegation continued to the Tokyo University of Agriculture (TUA / Tokyo NODAI). The agenda for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) update between TUA / Tokyo NODAI and IPB took place in the TUA Presidential Room, 9th Floor, Academia Center, Tokyo NODAI, Tokyo, Japan. TUA / Tokyo NODAI was represented by Dr. Katsumi TAKANO – TUA / Tokyo NODAI President, Dr. Yoichi SAKATA – Director of the TUA International Program Center / Tokyo NODAI, Dr. Kojiro SUZUKI – Deputy Director of OLD / Tokyo NODAI Center for International Program, Mr. Yasuyuki ASANO – TUA Chief Officer / Tokyo NODAI Office of President, Mr. Koichi YOSHINO – Head of the TUA International Program Center / Tokyo NODAI, Ms. Naho GOTO – Assistant Head of the TUA / Tokyo NODAI International Program Center.

IPB proposed to be the host of the 20th International Student Summit (KTT) in 2020 and this proposal was welcomed by TUA. The parties invited also on the occasion also agreed to contribute to increasing collaboration in other fields, namely not only adhered to in the academic field but also in research. The IPB delegation also took the opportunity to meet with IPB students who currently have programs at TUA. (*)
