IPB Provides Students with Briefing before Conducting Socialization to the Regions

The Communication Bureau of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a workshop entitled "Development of Regional Student Organizations and Preparation of Socialization to High Schools" at the Auditorium of Community Nutrition and Family Resources (GMSK) of the Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (14/10). The speakers were the Head of the Promotion Section of the Communication Bureau drh. M. Fahrudin, Ph.D, Head of Public Relations Siti Nuryati, S.TP MSi, MIPR, and Haikal Saputra who is an IPB alumnus who has long been engaged in Public Speaking.

In front of hundreds of students who are members of the Regional Student Organizations (OMDAs), drh. Fakhrudin said that the main task of OMDA is to change the mindset of high school (SMA) students about agriculture. According to him, to date high school students still put agriculture in a dirty stigma.

"In fact, there have been many agricultural modernization processes in this current era. We as the academic community of IPB have to bring the high school students to the right perception about agriculture so that they want to study at IPB," he said.

Meanwhile, Siti Nuryati provided briefings related to several things that must be conveyed to high school students.

"We must be able to explain agriculture in a broad sense to high school students. As seniors who become a role model for their juniors in high school, OMDA students has to equip themselves with various important information about IPB such as study programs, innovations, dormitories, scholarships and IPB entry paths. The presence of OMDA students in their respective regions will become the spearhead of the information provider that is highly awaited by high school students," she explained.

On that occasion, Haikal Saputra delivered the material with the theme "Public Speaking: Improving Communication Ability for Socialization of IPB".

Galuh Prayoga, one of the participants, stated that this event was very useful as a provision for socializing IPB to their high schools. (KD/ZSP/Zul)
