Six students from the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University (Dept. of ITK FPIK IPB) consisting of Naufal Rasyid (ITK 53), Muhammad Wijdan T (ITK 53), Azhari Benyamin (ITK 53), Aditya Prawira (ITK 53), Raihan Hadi Syahputra (ITK 53), and Laylia Nabilajauza S (ITK 53) conducted apprenticeships to Quicksilver Cruise Bali in Nusa Penida, Bali under the guidance of Bagus Prakoso, S.IK.

The apprenticeship activity aims to apply the lessons learned in lectures and increase knowledge and experience on coral conservation.

The internship program lasted for 13 days, from Monday (30/7) to Saturday (11/8).

The activity was filled with rehabilitation of coral around the operational area of Quicksilver Cruise in Nusa Penida. "We get a lot of experience about rehabilitation, for example related to coral transplantation, which is the way of cutting the acropora branching coral, then binding the pieces to the media that had been prepared before," said Wijdan. Laylia Nabilajauza S. added that in addition to rehabilitation, apprentices also monitored the tourism sites.

Monitoring carried out included collecting coral data using the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method and Point Intercept Transect (PIT) as well as collecting fish data.

The apprenticeship activity was closed with an underwater clean up action in the Quicksilver Cruise operational area conducted by students and Quicksilver dock staff who continued with garbage disposal to the Nusa Penida Final Disposal Area (TPA). (jhn)
