President of Namibia Visit to IPB on Recent Agricultural Innovations

President of Namibia—Dr.Hage Geingob and delegations’ visit to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) on August 30th, 2018 was warmly welcomed by IPB Rector—Dr. Arif Satria, as part of entire visit timeline to Indonesia from August 29th to September 1st, 2018 for collaboration initiations in economic, infrastructural and agricultural sector (including fishery and marine). First and foremost, President Hage Geingob signed a memorandum of understanding with President of Republic of Indonesia—Joko Widodo in Bogor Presidential Palace in regard of fish theft solution conducts and economic related collaboration. As the delegations’ primary focus on agricultural innovation, visit then was proceeded to Agribusiness Development Station (ADS) where delegations would have better grasps on IPB innovations development and expansion through mini expo showcasing products from Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science with sorts of organic vegetables and fruits. There also displayed the prime mite-resistant paddy varieties introduced by Dr. Hajrial Aswidinnoor from Department of Agronomy and Horticulture namelyIPB 3S, IPB 4S, IPB Batola 6R, IPB Batola 5R, IPB 2R Bakumpal, and IPB Kapuas 7R. Several other top IPB’s innovations were also displayed, including Clarias Catfish Oil introduced by Prof. Clara M Koesharto and team from Department of Community Nutrition, Jala Ipam potato–main ingredient of the very first french fries in Indonesia–introduced by Prof. Suharsono and team from IPB Centre of Bioresources and Biotechnology Research (PPSHB), portable fish aggregation device (FAD) introduced by Dr. Roza Yusfiandayani from Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization and some other aquacultural innovations.
