Pursue International Achievement, BEM KM IPB Held International Talk
To provide international insight to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) students, Student Executive Student Body (BEM KM) IPB held The Instagram or International Talk Program at Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Dramaga Bogor IPB Campus. The event is a series of International Scholarship and Education Expo organized by Ministry of Education and Achievement BEM KM IPB. The aim is to increase the motivation of IPB students to excel and participate in international activities.
Present as guest speaker is the Head of Sub Directorate of Reputation Development and Student Achievement, Dr. Ujang Suwarna, Head of Sub Division of International Programs Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie, and also representatives from SHARE Scholarship Coordinator Lindawati Kartika, as well as Awardee and Retunee of various international programs that are also students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology Mu’minah Mustaqimah.
In his speech, Director of Student Affairs and Career Development, Dr. Alim Setiawan said that under international activities such as seminars, symposia or fieldtrips are very important in providing international experience to students.
"International experience will also be useful for career and networking support. For IPB, International Student Mobility activity is very important, because it can add reputation and increase the rank of IPB in the international arena and of course in national, "said Drs. Alim.
Therefore on this occasion, Dr. Ujang gives a lecture to the students about the preparation that must be done before the students follow the activities abroad. According to him prior to the international event, the student must pay attention to the organizer of the activity, the selection level and the number of participating countries.
"Usually there are events that are held on the international level but not meet the quality at all because the organizers only take advantage of the benefits alone. Therefore it is important to know the organizer of the event to be followed. Second, keep in mind that there are levels on each of selection or competition of events, as we should understand that each competition has value. The higher the level of competition the better the activity and assessed the better by the IPB. Third, please note the number of countries that participated in the event or the international race. The more of countries that participate, the better the value, "said Dr. Ujang.
According to him, competition said to be international level if it is followed by at least three continents, if less than three continents means it is regional. IPB students who will follow the contest at the international level will pass the selection and facilitated by the IPB to mentoring activities. That is the effort given by IPB in supporting students in order to give a good impact for the name of the alma mater and the students themselves.
In the meantime, Dr. Shinto explained that each activity or competition will be screened and selected based on the type of activities and preparation of students in the event. The services provided by the Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development are information through websites or social media.
"We are ready to help both in terms of administration and funding. We will help process visa application form from university to provide funding assistance if in the competition category. Regarding the funding will be taken into account of the activities and quality of the competition and of course must maintain the reputation of IPB, "said Dr. Shinto.
This event also presents Mu'minah Mustaqimah which has many international experience. As for example following the science summer program in Japan and has been awarded as the best presenter in the international arena. (DMR)
