IPB Students Follow Winter Program in Kyoto

A total of 15 students from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) attended the Winter Program at the Graduate School of Agriculture (GSA) of Kyoto University, Japan, on 17-25 February 2018. Chiara, Dewi, Nadyn, Murtadha, Gumbara, Marisa, Salma, Rizki, Reza, Sentanah, Jasmine, Anden, Rosdiana, Satria and Albertus were selected students from the class of 2014 and 2015 who had successfully passed the selection process held by the Faculty of Agriculture of IPB.
"During the program, we got lectures from the best lecturers of Kyoto University. We also obtained lecture materials that included Japanese Agriculture, Japanese Culture, Pesticide and Forestry. We conducted field study by visiting the GSA's green-house, Kitayama Forest, Myimana-Cho Village, Kizu Farm, and Kyoto University Experimental Farm. Of course, we also visited some tourist destinations in Japan," said Nadyn, one of the delegates.
Nadyn added that the delegates gained many benefits from the Winter Program. Nadyn became familiar with agriculture and forestry and the value of Japanese culture, because they had the opportunity to interact directly with Japanese society.
"It's like a dream to study in Japan. Japan is my dream country since I was a child. I was amazed by the discipline principle and how the Japanese respects each other. Japan is also very clean. People respect the time very well so everything works smoothly," said Nadyn.
She hoped that knowledge and experience gained in Japan could be applied as a daily habit in Indonesia, for example, in terms of timeliness and respect for others. Agricultural innovation learnt was also expected to help in creating many new innovations for IPB and Indonesia. (TK)
