On 10 April 2017, the Rector of Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB Bogor Agricultural University), Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, inaugurated 10 new officials, one of whom is the Dean of the School of Business (SB) of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Noer Azam Achsani, MS

As the newly appointed Dean of the School of Business, Prof. Noer Azam, has to comply with the SB IPB's Mission and Vision Statements, to produce qualified graduates capable of developing and applying science and technology. In addition the SB IPB should become the  leading center for developing responsible leaders, to promote accountability and transparency in higher education institutions, and to have characteristic of the Entrepreneurial University. They should also focus on long term, sustainable performance and global orientation.

Based on the IPB’s Rector’s Decree No. 05/IT3/OT/2015 on January 30, 2015, the Management and Business Graduate School of IPB that offered Master of Management in Agribusiness – IPB (MMA-IPB) established in 1991, had been reorganized to be the  full fledged IPB School of Business (SB IPB). The school offers a complete program from undergraduate to doctoral degrees in Business. In the early years,  MMA-IPB proved itself as a higher education institution in management that obtained high achievement by getting an A accreditation from the Higher Education National Accreditation Board (BAN PT) at its first attempt in the year 2000. Thus, SB IPB is nationally and internationally recognized accredited education in the field of business. The SB IPB carries out the function in developing and disseminating a business concept deeply rooted in Indonesian culture; providing business problem solving services in Indonesia; actively develop national and regional business disciplines and business practices; and supporting the sustainable development of business and industry based on agriculture, marine and bio-tropical science. "The mission of SB IPB is in line with the vision and mission of IPB," he said.

As the newly elected Dean of SB IPB, he is expected to be able to accelerate the achievement gains according the mission of SB IPB. "I seek to utilize, enhance and synergize the potential of SB IPB by creating convergence, synergy and cohesiveness among stakeholders for common progress," he said.

Strategy of SB IPB to be developed in line with the Renstra of IPB for 2025, namely: (1st). To become a leading research-based university in the world with the major competence in tropical agriculture, biosciences and processing  entrepreneurial characteristics; (2nd). To have good university governance (GUG); and (3rd). To have high commitment to the quality, high efficiency and accountability.

Therefore, as guided by the Renstra of IPB for 2025, SB IPB would like to play more role for IPB as an entrepreneurial university. This is also in line with SB IPB's tagline "Creating New Entrepreneurs and New Ventures".

In line with the Renstra of IPB for 2025, as well as SB IPB's tagline 6 (six) strategies were taken by Prof. Noer Azam to realize these goals, namely: improving the quality of education, improving the quality of research, improving the quality of community service, resource management and improving welfare, strengthening networking, and strengthening of organizational governance.

Further, there are 5 (five) programs will be planned to realize SB IPB as a pillar of entrepreneurial university, namely: (1). Academic excellence and organizational consolidation; (2). Strategic resource allocation; (3). Partnership & networking; (4). Internationalization program;  and (5). Entrepreneurial university. In principle, those 5 (five) programs to be run simultaneously, but they will be  focused according to its respective status.

"In my first office year, this year, I will pay more attention for the requirements for academic excellence and organizational consolidation, and they will by my first priority.  This won’t be my own program and wishes, but they have become the agreement among the  SB IPB communities. Then in the second year, I will focus more on strategic resource allocation. In the  following years, particularly on 2021, SB IPB will become the strong pillar for IPB as entrepreneurial university, "he said. (Wied)
