IPB Released 751 Best Graduates
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) was returned to offer the graduates as the qualified human resources and ready to develop the agricultural sector in the broad sense, in an open session with the single event of “Wisuda dan Penyerahan Ijazah Tahap IV Tahun Akademik 2016/2017 / Graduation and Diploma Delivery of Phase IV in the Academic Year 2016/2017”. The event was held in Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Campus of IPB Darmaga Bogor, Wednesday (18/1).
At this phase graduation, IPB handed the diplomas to 751 graduates, consisting of 51 graduates with Doctoral degree, 205 graduates with Master of Science degree, 15 graduates with Master of Management degree, 8 graduates with Professional Master degree, 2 graduates with Veterinarian degree, and 470 graduates with Sarjana degree. The Sarjana graduates who graduated in this phase came from the entire faculties in IPB.
The Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, directly led and simultaneously opened the graduation. “On behalf of the entire academic community of IPB, I extend my congratulations to the graduates upon the successful completion of the education. On this occasion, I would like to convey to the graduates of IPB who are graduated today that it will be a lot of challenges that you face in the community. These challenges include among others the issues of food, environment, energy, social and health,” he said.
He said, IPB in this case had attempted to answer the challenges through the implementation of Tri Darma Perguruan Tinggi and the research agenda of IPB. To overcome the problem of food that was by developing a new approach in strengthening the national food production system namely to realize the optimum and modern agribusiness model. With the optimum and modern agribusiness model, it could improve the productivity, the efficiency, and the competitiveness.
On this occasion, the Rector also stated that various attempts should continuously be done to make the academic program of IPB more qualified, the role of IPB in generating the innovation was more evident, and the reputation of IPB was getting better in the national and international arena. The awards for the sake of the awards were achieved by IPB both lecturers, researchers, educational staff, students and alumni. In March 2016, the international rankings of QS announced that IPB became one of the 100 best universities in the world version of QS World University Ranking by Subject i.e. Agriculture and Forestry. In 10 August 2016, IPB obtained the Intellectual Property Award 2016 from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education for the category of the Award Center of Most Prolific Intellectual Property and the Award for Cooperation with Foreign Researchers.
In nine years in a row i.e. since 2008, IPB had always been the major contributor to most prospective innovations in Indonesia according to the appraisal of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education with the Business Innovation Center (BIC) Indonesia. Total innovations of IPB in the period of 2008-2016 were 359 innovations from 936 innovations of Indonesia, mostly compared to universities and other research institutions.
He added, IPB gained the award of III Rank of Anugerah Keterbukaan Informasi Public / Grace of Public Information Disclosure, Category of University handed over by the Vice President of RI, and II Rank of Anugerah Cinta Karya Bangsa / Grace of Love of Working Nation, Category of University handed over by the Minister of Industry. “We are grateful that IPB has achieved many accomplishments, but we also have to continue to prepare ourselves to achieve and answer various challenges in the future,” he said.
Hereinafter, the Rector said that the Alumni Association had the strategic position for IPB as the important partner in building the nation at large and building IPB in particular. The alumni of IPB could continue to improve and develop the existing cooperation for the advancement of the alma mater. To note that up to the graduation at this phase, IPB had had 141,460 alumni.
