Delegation of UKM of IGAF of LC of IPB Attended Prepcom 3 UN HABITAT III

Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Indonesia Green Action Forum (IGAF) of Local Committee of Bogor Agricultural University (LC IPB) followed the event of Preparation Committee (Prepcom3) UN HABITAT III in Surabaya, on 25-27 July 2016. UKM of IGAF of LC of IPB was one of UKM in IPB engaged in the field of environment and based on the delegation at the event of United Nations (UN) both national and international. 

 

Prepcom 3 was the last preparatory meeting before heading to HABITAT III in Quito, Equador on October 2016. Previously, Prepcom 1 was held in New York on 17-18 September 2014. Prepcom 2 was held in Nairobi Kenya, 14-15 April 2015. The purpose of the conference of HABITAT III was to re-assess the commitment of the member countries of UN to follow up on the agenda of HABITAT II, and to renew the global commitment to face the challenges of sustainable urbanization. This conference was held every 20 years, and the third was expected to be able to generate of the global special conference about the New Urban Agenda. 

 

Prepcom 3 which was held in Surabaya brought the delegates from 193 countries, and involved the international and national organizations. IGAF had the opportunity to fill one of the available booth, along with the other organizations from various countries, which were supervised directly by UN.
