IPB and PT. Antam Proclaimed the Development of Forage of Animal Feed
Directorate of Strategic Studies and Agricultural Policy (Directorate of KSKP), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), in collaboration with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Division of PT. Antam (Persero) Tbk proclaimed the development of forage of animal feed, Tuesday (5/1). The declaration taking place in Kebun Bukit Arroyan, Antajaya Village, Tanjung Sari Sub-district, Bogor District was held in order to meet the meat self-sufficiency and the strengthening of the local economic potential.
Director of KSKP of IPB, Dr. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, said, to support the national program and to meet the self-sufficency in meat, IPB made the models of non-productive land use by planting the forage of small scale animal feed. This activity was conducted in three-point villages which were in the areas of Bogor District and Sukabumi District, among others, Cileuksa Village, Sukajaya Sub-district; Tamansari Village, Tamansari Sub-district; and Nanggerang Village, Cicurug Sub-district.
“This model will be developed in the scale of 50 hectares which will be implemented gradually. In this development model, IPB will assist the farmers in developing the forage of animal feed in collaboration with PT. Antam which will facilitate the farmer’s access to capital through the revolving funds to farmers,” said Dr. Dodik.
Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, in his speech said, the forage was a source of major animal feed ingredient and a very big role for ruminant livestock (cow, buffalo, goat and sheep), and good for the production growth (meat and milk). Therefore, he explained, IPB seeked to create the land which could produce the type of food which was nutritious for animal feed. Other than that, the land which would be developed was the integrated agricultural land, which also had the potential for tourism, plantation and fruits.
While Vice President PT. Antam (Persero) Tbk, Agus Yulianto, MM, conveyed, that PT. Antam Tbk was committed to improve the management of the partnership program. Among others were through the capacity building of human resources and the development of micro-enterprise system management and the cooperation with universities such as IPB.
