This took place in PSB Building Taman Kencana campus of IPB, from 7 to 9 April 2015.
Executive Secretary of PSB-LPPM-IPB, Drs. Edy Djauhari Purwakusumah, MS said, the purpose of this training is to invite researchers and stakeholders to work together to pay attention to herbal medicine. "We want to give assurance to the public and stakeholders that herbs are standardized in terms of particularly the raw materials for both biological and chemical aspects," he explained.
Further, Prof. Latifah said, to improve the efficacy of herbal medicine in restoring health, prevention, and cure of diseases, making it equivalent to modern medicines, it is necessary to ensure the quality standards of herbal medicine, in terms of raw materials, production processes and quality control, equipment, and handling personnel.
"Hopefully, there is a common vision and steps of working with the same views on all elements involved in planting and producing herbal medicinal ingredients. This is meant to have better quality of the raw materials and herbal medicine as well," she added.
The resource persons in this training were Dr. Mohamad Rafi of PSB-LPPM, who talked about the theme "Method of Quality Control Using Chromatography Techniques", and Rudi Haryanto, M.Si, lecturer of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB with the theme "Method of Herbal Medicine and Raw Material Quality Control Using Spectroscopy Technique"
