IPB GFMIPA IPB Held Scientific Competition for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Level of Bogor Regency
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA IPB) held a "Scientific Competition for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Kompetisi Sains Madrasah – KSM for Islamic Grade School Level) of Bogor District, on Mathematics and Natural Science", on Saturday, 28 February 2015. The event was held at the Campus Dramaga, Bogor, and was participated by 400 students from 40 districts of Bogor Regency.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Ence Darmo Jaya Supena said that the event was held under cooperation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), Bogor regency, with IPB, and Mathematics Clinic of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (Klinik Pendidikan MIPA – KPM), Bogor. "The purpose of this program is to promote love of science from an early age," he said.
Head of MORA Office of Bogor Regency, Dr. Suhendra, appreciated the quick response of FMIPA-IPB in helping students and teachers of Madrasah of Bogor district to improve their competences. The competition was initiated on 5 January 2015. Therefore, he stresses that such opportunity should be utilized by students and teachers of Madrasah of Bogor district as best as possible.
While students were busy doing the competition activites, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FMIPA IPB, Dr. Kiagus Dahlan, met the accompanying teachers of participated schools for coaching. During which, Dr. Kiagus Dahlan, briefed them on the importance of teaching science for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah properly as early as possible. Thus, he explained, teachers must understand the teaching material well to enable them carry out their jobs clearly and attractively.
Through of this program, 20 students of each scientific field, namely the Math and Natural Science, will be selected for further coaching under the team in Mathematics Education Clinic (KPM) of Laladon, Bogor Regency. The best students of each field will selected to represent the Bogor district for KSM West Java Provincial Level, which will be held in April 2015.
Concurrently the other Team of FMIPA IPB were doing similar program, they provided coaching for students MTs (junior high of Islamic School) competition for three different scientific studies, namely Mathematics, Biology, and Physics. (Wied).
