DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT OF IPB HELD THE TRAINING OF K3 IN THE LABORATORY

Department of Water Resources Management (MSP) organized the training with the theme of Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) dengan Bahan Kimia di Laboratorium / Occupational Health and Safety (K3) with Chemicals in the Laboratory, on Saturday, 15 November 2014 in Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of IPB. This activity was followed by all students of 48 batch MSP.

Dr. Majariana Krisanti, S.Pi, M.Si as Secretary of Department of MSP opened this training activity. She conveyed, “The training activity of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is the first activity held by the Department of MSP. Next will be regularly held every year for every batch of the students of MSP. It is expected that today’s activity gives benefit to the training participants so they can be introspective in working in the laboratory.”

The training agenda conducted covered: the basic rules in the laboratory, the correct way of working in the laboratory, the safety equipment and handling of the working accident, and the handling and storage of the good and correct chemicals. Hermanto, S.Si as the instructor of PT. MERCK Chemical and Life Science, guided this K3 training activity. “As the person who works in the laboratory, we should be always alert toward the source of danger, use the tool of self protection, obey the basic rules in the laboratory, know the procedures for correct and safe handling the chemicals, and conduct the internal training,” he said.

Students of 48 batch MSP followed a series of activities with high caring and enthusiasm, to always pay attention to the correct procedures to work in accord with the instruction in the laboratory when conducting the research and later in the career world of the instructor. The students expected that this training could become their necessary skill to work in accord with the health and safety procedures in the activity and to work in the laboratory. (SGA)
