Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in cooperation with Yanmar Research Institute (YARI) held the Opening of Yanmar Research Institute of IPB (17/10). IPB Rector, Prof. Dr Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc said, "Welcome and thank you for your attention in the field of agricultural technology research, especially agricultural machinery. YARI-IPB is a collaboration of research and technology developed by Yanmar Company Limited Japan and Fateta-IPB. This partnership is to map the situation and problems of agricultural development of Indonesia and find the best solution. In addition, the dissemination of the research results will for the people of Indonesia," said Prof. Dr Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc.
 
The opening was marked symbolically by cutting a ribbon and submitting replica keys as a symbolic aid of two agricultural machines to IPB. In this event was also shown he innovative work of IPB researchers, Fastrex, a transporter machine for the fresh fruit bunches of oil palm created by Dr. Ir. Desrial, M.Eng.
 
"In the last seven years the Ministry of Research and Technology together with the Business Innovation Center (BIC) published a list of the most promising innovations in Indonesia and IPB is the most innovative campus in Indonesia. IPB contributes to 278 innovations of the 721 most prospective innovations in Indonesia," added Rector.

This cooperation is expected to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, especially in environmentally friendly agriculture and solutions of renewable energy. Farmers also benefit from this partnership as another goal of this cooperation is to contribute to the living standards of farmers with a profitable farm, release farmers of heavy work, and emphasize the safety of the farmers.
 
"I am very happy to be able to attend this event. I’d also like to say happy birthday to the 50th anniversary of Fateta-IPB. The aim of this cooperation is to contribute to the modernization of agriculture by improving agricultural productivity and quality in Indonesia, as well as providing a suitable mechanization for farmers. We hope this research can contribute to the development of agriculture in Indonesia," said Naoki Kobayashi of Yanmar Company.

Dean of Fateta, Dr. Sam Herodian, MS said, "I thank you for being in this very important event. IPB cooperation with institutions in Japan has long been going on. Cooperation between IPB and Yanmar was started because we were concerned about the mechanization of agriculture in Indonesia. We look at from different points of view and we hope this partnership will ultimately improve the welfare of farmers. This machine can reduce conventional farm loss of 11 percent to 2-3 per cent. I hope YARI-IPB can contribute a lot in the development of mechanization in Indonesia." (Mtd)
