Routine Tahajjud Prayers Since High School, Now The Student of Faculty Veterinary Medicine of IPB

JefriNaldi, the orphan from SMAN 1 BatangKapas, Pesisir Selatan, Sumatera Barat, was one of freshman for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). Jefriwas one of students who undertook the Bidikmisischolarship selection process, held at JannesHumuntalHutasoit Auditorium, DramagaCampus, on  16-17 June 2014.
 
The fourth child of a family with six children, he has been an orphaned since he was the 1stgrade of Junior High School (SMP). His two brothers successfully completed their  high schools but the other two brothers were forced to drop out of school because of family economic conditions. From elementary school, he had been classified to be student with  achievements. In the Junior High School Jefriwas the he the firstranked student in his class. However, due to the death of the father, he dropped his achievement Jefriup to time he went to the high school. "Thank God, my motivation was bounced back when I was admitted to the  high school," he said. To assist her mother to shoulder the family expenses, every day Jefriworks as a "cowboy" and cement mixer. After school, at three o’clock, Jefristarts his job as cement mixer up to five o’clock. After that, he starts to cut grass to feed his neighbour’ cows.
 
"Every week I earned Rp. 100.000,- (hundred thousand Rp.) from mixing mortar. In addition, he also has another side job for cutting grass. Wages for this side job will regularly be given after the owner successfully sell the cow. Method for paying the wages cutting grass is as follow, suppose the cow he looks after is sold for Rp. 4 million, he will get Rp. 2 million (regularly it takes about 2.5 years to raise such cow). I usually give the money to my mother for foods and other expenses of the family. For school expenses it is depending on the scholarship. Therefore, if I don’t get bidikmisischolarship, I’m sure I won’t be able to pursue my study at the university Mom, "he said. Thank God, prior being allowed to enter to the dormitory of  IPB, one of his senior provide him free accommodation. His travel expenses to go to Bogor to study at IPB was supported from his mother who owes to someone in her village, "he added.
 
When he was asked why he interested in IPB, Jefrianswered that in addition to make her mother proud of, he also wants to be rancher. According to him, his area is very suitable for cattle farminf due to abundance natural feeders. With a hectic schedule of school and work, and how Jefrimanaged to the second ranked student in his high school? "After work, I take shower, then I practiced  theMaghrib (evening) prayers, having dinner, and went to sleep. At two in the morning I woke up to pray Tahajjud, then I study until morning, "he said.
 
RoutineTahajjud prayers (qiyamulLail) give an easy way to live and to study as well. Who have predicted that Jefri someday would become the IPB student.Jefriis now officially become the student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) IPB, one of leading School odVeterinary Medicine in Southeast Asia. If he is lucky and his application for Bidikmisi will be accepted, within the next six years, BatangKapas, Pesisir Selatan, Sumatera Barat, will proud to have a Veterinarian of IPB. Amen. (Wied)
