The Visit of SMA Avicenna,Cinere, Depok

"Campus of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is far away from the sea, but why the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science has been established here in this campus? Then, where do students of this Faculty doing their practical works?".That was the question raised by the teacher of Avicenna High School, Cinere,Depok,when they made an official visit to the University, on Thursday, 22 May 2014, in the reception held at the auditorium of Green Campus TV, Dramaga campus, Bogor.

 

Head of Division (Head) Office of Law, Promotion, and Public Relations of IPB, Dr.Fahruddinthen explained briefly to respond such question. Apparently, he has convinced theteacher who accompanied the Avicenna High School students. Another question raised was quite critical, the question was asking detail of reason why the country is still flooded with imported agricultural products, whereas IPB has actually has experts who have produced various  research results, such as papaya Calina, high yield rice varieties, and so forth.

 

Avicenna High School group leader, Mr. Abdul Rojak, S.Pdinformed that such  visit which was participated by 50 students. It was one of the intra-curricular activities “Thematic Outdoor Learning (TOL)”. TOL is the travel program planned to visit campuses both state and private universities and field works as well. The aims of the program is to learn and get important information related to the particular learning programs.  "For the current visit here to the campus, we expect to learn more about IPB, especially students’life in the campus, both for their  intra and extra curricularactivities," said Mr.Rojak.
