Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) launched the book "Revolutionizing the Green Revolution" and 67 books by IPB academicians, Monday (17/9), at IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor. This was conducted by IPB Rector, Prof. D.r Herry Suhardiyanto, accompanied by Head of the IPB Board of Professors, Prof. Dr. Endang Suhendang.

Prof Dr Endang Suhendang said that the book entitled "Revolutionizing the Green Revolution" is written as the response of the Board of Professors to the idea first presented by Prof. GA Wattimena, Emeritus Professor of IPB. Prof Wattimena is a historical actor who has observed a variety of both positive and negative impacts from the beginning of the green revolution era until now, especially in Indonesia, where the agricultural sector is crucial associated with public welfare, national security and food sovereignty.

"This book tries to explore the ideas of IPB Professors in various disciplines dedicated to respond to the growing problems and opportunities as a result of the implemented concept of green revolution, in terms of technological, social and food security aspects," said Prof Endang.

At the level of concept, the major items in the book "Revolutionizing the Green Revolution" can be used as a basis in developing the concept and subsequent implementation. In it there are the answers to the problems at different depth levels of drought, climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as efforts to bring about justice for people and environment by preserving nature sustainably. The principles of sovereignty, justice and sustainability are the foundation of the concept depicted.

In response to the description, IPB Rector expressed his appreciation to the Board of Professors IPB who is highly productive in generating ideas for the benefit and welfare of mankind. The third book compiled by the Board, said Rector, is a relevant idea in the context of the growing scarcity of food, energy, water and environmental degradation.

"Hopefully the presence of this book is widely beneficial in the interest of human welfare. And this contribution must simultaneously complete the agenda of University Tri Dharma (three major duties)," said Rector.

The launch of the book was followed by a book review, presenting Prof.GA Wattimena who talked about the "Perspective of the Past", and Prof Roedhy Purwanto discussed "Relevance of Today and Future Perspectives", the counter speakers, Prof. A. Harijono Tjokronegoro (Chairman of the Board of Professors of Bandung Institute of Technology), Imam B Prasodjo, Ph.D (University of Indonesia sociologist), and Prof. (Ris) Suryana Ahmad, Ph.D. (Head of Food Security Affairs).
