Special Dialogue on “Hari Krida Pertanian”
On Tuesday, 21 June 2011, we will celebrate “Hari Krida Pertanian” (The Agricultural Work Day). In relation with the special day, the RRI Bogor invited Dr. Ir. Arif Satria, SP., MSi. the Dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) Bogor Agricultural University, as the keynote speaker for its Afternoon Dialogue on RRI, on 21 June 2011. In brief, Dr. Arif explained the momentum of Hari Krida Pertanian, why this special day should be celebrated. This explaination is important, as the public should be fully aware that our country is an agrarian country, which is rich in various kinds of fruits and vegetables. In addition, Indonesia is the maritime country as well, which means the country is rich in marine biological resources, thus, Indonesia is rich in both agriculture and fisheries resources. "But the problem is, do we willing to have such status? Because if say we say we capable, I’m sure everyone will be capable to do. If say that we want, it requires our awareness of both personal (individual) as well as institutionally. "Said Dr.. Arif.
In the globalization era, where any information can be easily accessible, as the agriculture extension personnels they are the a spearhead or a government in disseminating information on agriculture, therefore, their professional performances should be improved, both in the extension and the agricultural field they are going to disseminate. For example, for the local government of Kutai, the Regent has prioritized the three sectors to support its regional development, among others: the medical sector, teachers, and extension workers, to achieve the targets.
On 10 July 2011, Bogor Agricultural Universty planned to have Jalan Pagi Sehat (a Healthy Morning Walk) during "Local Fruit Taking" campaing will also be performed. At present, almost everywhere, at the supermarkets and traditional markets as well we find many imported fruits such as grapes, apples, pears. Such situation should be changed by intensifying the campaign. Top leaders should examplify us, especially the President should be the best example for all of us, he must consume only local fruits.
We believe that imported apples do not better than our local apples from Malang. We should be proud that our Pontianak oranges are fresher than the imported lokam oranges from China, our rapi’ah rambutan is sweeter than kiwi fruit from New Zealand, our Majimah durian is better than Montong durian from Taiwan, and still many more names of our local fruits such as duku Palembang, Indramayu mango, and particularly Bisbul the endemic fruit of Darmaga, such fruit crops has shady and beautiful canopy, but have never been given attention by people.
